The Year 7 and 8 curriculum is designed to support a smooth transition to secondary school, honing foundational knowledge and study skills across a wide range of subjects. 

Year 7 and 8 students take core subjects, which run for the entire year, as well as a variety of semester-based subjects. 

In Year 8 students are given the opportunity to select their elective subjects. These electives are chosen according to personal preferences, enabling students to delve into their interests and start shaping their future academic paths.

Innovation in the Curriculum 

Futures 

Futures invites students to explore a design thinking process to research and develop solutions to contemporary problems. Throughout the subject, students build their ICT, problem solving and research skills. Futures develops student's critical thinking, creativity, curiosity and collaboration skills. Students have agency in this subject by researching an area of interest to develop a solution. Students may investigate an environmental, technological, or social problem. 

STEM Week 

The College provides an educational and interactive STEM Week for Year 7 and 8 students, designed to provide them with the foundation to succeed both at the College and in their years beyond. The sessions throughout the week will develop students’ capabilities in critical and creative thinking, collaboration and ethical decision making. Students will be able to select from experiences that are core to STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. Students use design thinking process of imagining possible solutions through research, design, making, testing, and improving viable solutions. 


Year 9

In Year 9 students expand their horizons, adding elective subjects to the core curriculum. Electives are assigned based on individual preference, allowing students to explore their interests and begin to determine their future courses of study as they prepare for their Senior years. 

Students select four semester-based elective units across Learning Areas of English, Mathematics, Religious Education, The Arts, Technology, Science, Humanities and Health and Physical Education. Subjects that run for the whole year count as two units. In Term 3 each year, the College offers both students and parents the opportunity to learn more information about subject pathways and electives.
