JPC writers and debaters shine

30 October 2025

After just one day of writing and illustrating, students from 15 schools recently unveiled their completed books at the SIS Book-in-a-Day Presentation Day. Each story was peer-reviewed and voted on by students, with the top four then reviewed by a Senior Editor from Scholastic Books.

John Paul College is thrilled to announce that our team won Most Humorous Novella and the Trivia Challenge

Congratulations to Oliver W (Year 10), Hazel A, Chellah S, Aliyah D, Scarlette W, Eleanor M, Annabella W (all Year 8), and Hugo M (Year 7), who proudly represented JPC with creativity, teamwork, and enthusiasm. Their witty and original novella impressed the judges and earned well-deserved recognition among schools across the Southern Independent Schools network.

Our Junior DAV Debating Team - Hugo M (Year 7), Maxx M (Year 7) and Emily S (Year 8) - also achieved a fantastic win against Dromana Secondary College.

Arguing the affirmative side of “Fast food should be required to use plain packaging,” the team delivered logical, well-reasoned arguments and impressed the judges with their confidence and teamwork - an especially impressive effort given it was the first-ever debate for two of the students.

The College congratulates our talented writers and debaters on these outstanding achievements, showcasing creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking at its best.
