The I CAN Mentoring Program launches with energy and purpose at John Paul College

05 November 2025

The I CAN Mentoring Program at John Paul College is off to a fantastic start, with students from Years 8 -11 diving into workshops designed to build teamwork, communication, and self-awareness.

In Session 1, mentees explored the Teamwork Module through the engaging Paper Tower Challenge. Students demonstrated leadership, collaboration, and inclusion as they worked together to build the tallest and most stable structures.

Session 2 shifted focus to Interests & Strengths, where students created their own I CAN Profiles, a reflective activity that encouraged them to identify their strengths, set personal goals, and recognize their support networks. A powerful I CAN Talk inspired the group with a story of resilience and determination.

In Session 3, the spotlight turned to Self-Advocacy within the Communication Module. Activities like Ping Pong Bounce helped students practice expressing their needs with confidence. The session also featured fun and connection, with games such as Celebrity Heads and The Drawing Game. The session wrapped up with laughter and camaraderie through games like Shark fin and Wink Murder, leaving everyone energized and connected.

Next up, JPC mentees continue exploring the Communication Module with a focus on Presentations. We can’t wait to see our mentees shine!
