Our Year 10 Vocational Education Training (VET) Workplace Skills and Year 11 VET Community Services students have been making the most of hands-on learning experiences in recent weeks.
On 22 August, Year 10 VET Workplace Skills students visited the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie. They explored branding, marketing strategies, and the inputs, processes and outputs that drive the business. The visit also included a guided tour of the factory and grounds, tastings of chocolate and ice cream, and the chance to decorate their own chocolate lollipop. It was a delicious way to see theory come to life!
On 25–26 August, Year 11 VET Community Services students took part in an excursion to Our Village, where they volunteered their time to support women and children in need. Students worked together on a range of jobs including sorting and packing shoes, organising toys, painting cots, and cleaning prams, bouncers and car seats. Their efforts made a real difference while giving them valuable insight into the importance of community service.
These experiences highlight the unique opportunities VET provides for students to develop practical skills, broaden their understanding, and contribute meaningfully to the community.
