The SIS Book-in-a-Day is a unique competition where teams of students from Southern Independent Schools collaborate to write, illustrate, and publish a novella in just one day. Working under specific, often abstract parameters revealed on the day, students must showcase their creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork. The finished novellas are judged, with top entries advancing to further judging by Scholastic Australia.
JPC was represented by Oliver W (Year 10), Hazel A, Chellah S, Aliyah D, Scarlette W, Eleanor M, Annabella W (all Year 8), and Hugo M (Year 7). Each student demonstrated outstanding imagination, collaboration, and commitment throughout the workshop. Their preparation has set the stage for an exciting Writing Day on 25 August, when they will bring their ideas to life and produce their final novellas.
