John Paul College congratulates Year 10 Psychology students Zachary G and Kesean G, who have qualified for the 2025 Australian Brain Bee Challenge (ABBC) State Finals to be held at the Melbourne Brain Centre Auditorium at the University of Melbourne in Term 3.
The ABBC is a national competition that aims to inspire Year 10 students to deepen their understanding of the brain, explore neuroscience research, and consider potential careers in the field. The program also seeks to dispel common misconceptions about neurological and mental illnesses.
In Round 1, students studied Neuroscience: Science of the Brain by the British Neuroscience Association and the European Dana Alliance for the Brain. They then completed an online quiz under exam conditions to test their knowledge of brain structure and function. Zachary and Kesean achieved outstanding results, earning them a place in the State Finals.
The next round will see them join other high-achieving students from across Victoria for a day of live questioning, team challenges, and hands-on neuroscience activities. They will also have the opportunity to participate in lab tours, attend lectures and demonstrations, and speak with researchers working in the field.
The College wishes Zachary and Kesean all the best as they prepare to represent John Paul College at the State Finals.
