Understanding the NCCD: What parents and carers need to know

12 May 2025

The Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD) takes place annually across all Australian schools. A new fact sheet is now available to help parents, guardians and carers understand how the process works and what it means for their children.

The NCCD collects information about students who receive adjustments or support at school due to disability. These adjustments allow students to access learning on the same basis as their peers. The data helps governments, schools and education authorities improve support systems, ensure inclusive practices, and allocate appropriate funding through the student with disability loading.

Schools collect details such as year level, type of disability and level of support required. Importantly, student privacy is protected - no names or identifying details are shared.
