Connection often begins through shared experiences, and throughout Term 2, a group of students participated in a Cooking Engagement Program delivered by Frankston City Council Youth Services.
Designed to support wellbeing, strengthen engagement with learning and provide positive opportunities for connection, the program saw students take part in seven structured sessions alongside youth workers and College staff.
The program commenced with school-based activities focused on building relationships, developing teamwork skills and collaboratively selecting recipes. Students then progressed to guided cooking experiences at Karingal PLACE and visited Youth Central in Frankston, providing opportunities to develop practical life skills while becoming familiar with supportive community spaces.
The final session celebrated students’ participation and reflected on the confidence, connections and personal growth developed throughout the program.
This initiative reflected the College’s ongoing commitment to student wellbeing and the importance of creating meaningful opportunities that foster belonging, build confidence and strengthen connections within both the College and the wider community.
