JPC Runners Excel Across Cross Country Competitions

29 May 2026

John Paul College athletes have continued to deliver outstanding performances across recent cross country events, showcasing determination, teamwork and exceptional depth across year levels.

At the Athletics Victoria All Schools Cross Country Relays, students competed in teams of four, each completing a challenging 3km leg over a hilly and testing course. Racing against schools from across the state, both JPC teams performed strongly. The U16 Girls team of Mikayla M, Eve L, Clara M and Hadley P finished 16th overall, while the U18 Boys team of Cooper W, Ethan G, Sebastian K and Ollie B placed 15th. The College congratulates all students involved for their efforts in demanding conditions and thanks families for their ongoing support.

In another strong showing at the SIS Cross Country, a squad of 68 students represented JPC across a windy 3km course at Casey Fields. The team recorded a number of outstanding individual results, including:

  • Lily L finishing 1st overall in the U16 Girls
  • Aidan T placing 1st in Division B Open Boys, and
  • Clara M winning the Division B U15 Girls race.

Additional highlights included:

  • Roxy P finishing 2nd in Division B U13 Girls
  • Mikayla M 3rd in Division B U14 Girls
  • Cooper W 2nd in Division B U16 Boys, and
  • Marshall D placing 3rd in Division B Open Boys.

These results contributed to a dominant overall performance, with JPC crowned Division B champions. The College congratulates all competitors on their achievements and the strong spirit displayed throughout the competition.

Most recently, the All Schools XCR Cross Country Championships were held in Bundoora, with JPC represented by a squad of 11 students competing in the state-wide event. Each athlete tackled either the 3km or 4km course in extremely challenging conditions, with heavy mud, rain and cool winds testing competitors throughout the day. The College congratulates all students who stepped up and represented the College with determination at a state-wide level.

A special mention goes to Lily L (Year 10), who finished an outstanding 4th in the U17 Girls 4km event, recording a time of 15:25. Her performance has earned her selection in Team Vic for the National Cross Country Championships, to be held in Ballarat this August.
