We are delighted to welcome Megan Rogers, renowned author and John Paul College alumna, as the guest speaker for our upcoming Mother’s Day celebration.
Megan’s journey from JPC to the forefront of Australian literature is a remarkable one. Her debut novel, The Heart is a Star, not only debuted strongly on national bestseller lists but has become one of the standout literary debuts in Australia. This deeply engaging novel, praised for its lyrical prose and powerful exploration of family, identity and resilience, is now being adapted for the screen, cementing Megan’s place as a significant voice in contemporary fiction.
Before turning to fiction, Megan built a diverse and accomplished career in both the literary and professional worlds. After early roles in publishing and marketing - including leadership in marketing at the State Library of Victoria - she pursued advanced study in creative writing, completing a PhD that examined narrative and motherhood and earning the Vice Chancellor’s Excellence Award along the way.
Megan’s academic and creative accomplishments include a Bachelor of Arts/Science from Monash University, postgraduate diplomas in writing and communication, a Master of Marketing, and a non‑fiction book published in 2017.
Megan lives on the Mornington Peninsula with her husband and two daughters, where she continues to write and inspire others through her work. Her address at our Mother’s Day event will touch on her creative journey, the craft of writing, and the ways she balances professional ambition with family life - insights we hope will resonate with all members of our community.
We look forward to hearing Megan share her story with us and celebrate the achievements of one of our own.
