St Joseph’s community celebrates Principal Gavan O’Donnell’s retirement

John Paul College extends its warmest congratulations and gratitude to Mr Gavan O’Donnell, Principal of St Joseph’s Primary School, on his upcoming retirement. Gavan concludes an extraordinary 44-year career in Catholic Education, including more than 35 years of dedicated service as a principal.

Throughout his leadership at St Joseph’s, Gavan has been a source of inspiration and guidance, recognised for his deep faith, visionary leadership, and unwavering commitment to student and staff wellbeing. His legacy of innovation, inclusion, and excellence has shaped generations of learners—many of whom have continued their educational journey at John Paul College.

The St Joseph’s community warmly invites families, colleagues, and friends to celebrate Gavan’s remarkable contribution on Sunday 30 November. The celebration will begin with Mass at 11:00am, followed by Carols in the Hall at 12:15pm, a Farewell Address at 12:45pm, and a Family Picnic and BBQ from 1:00pm to 2:30pm.

The College community thanks Gavan for his outstanding service to Catholic education and wishes him every blessing in his well-deserved retirement.
