Chapel Art Competition explores Pilgrims of Hope

27 October 2025

This year’s Chapel Art Competition centred on the theme Pilgrims of Hope, inspired by the 2025 Jubilee Year in the Catholic Church. The theme invited reflection on hope, perseverance, and the journey toward bettering ourselves and the world around us through kindness and strength.

Students expressed this message through a range of art forms, including painting, photography, and sculpture, each capturing a unique interpretation of what it means to be a Pilgrim of Hope.

Congratulations to our winners:
1st place – Adelina L (Year 12) Pilgrims of Hope
2nd place – Indi M (Year 9) Hopeful Horizons
3rd place – Ella B (Year 7) The Shape of Holding On

1st Place – Pilgrims of Hope
“My artwork portrays the theme ‘Pilgrims of Hope’, illustrating the idea that happiness is attainable through perseverance and faith. In the piece, hands emerge from the darkness and symbolise challenges and threats to faith and the struggle that comes with self-improvement. In contrast, the woman in the painting holds a lantern, representing her faith, which guides and protects her through the darkness. The artwork portrays her journey towards renewal and cleansing, shown by the water and light from the Heavens at the end of a difficult path. It represents rebirth and hope that, despite adversity, anyone can find light through faith, perseverance, and the pursuit of a better future.”
Adelina L, Year 12

These inspiring works embodied the theme beautifully, reflecting journeys of faith, resilience, and renewal through art.
