Thank you and farewell, Bus Driver Bill

23 October 2025

After 13 years of dedicated service, the College community came together to celebrate the retirement of our much-loved bus driver, Bill.

Throughout his years at John Paul College, Bill has been more than just a driver - he has been a friendly face, a caring listener and a constant source of positivity for students each day. Known for his kindness and welcoming nature, he took great pride in making every student feel seen and valued, greeting new passengers with a warm smile and remembering details about their families, interests and milestones.

Bill’s commitment extended well beyond the driver’s seat. He often went the extra mile to ensure students felt comfortable and safe, creating a supportive environment that made the daily commute something to look forward to. His cheerful spirit shone especially bright during the festive season, when he decorated his bus with Christmas lights and decorations, spreading joy to students and staff alike.

Colleagues describe Bill as someone who embodies the true spirit of community - dependable, generous and always ready with a kind word or a laugh. His contribution to the College has left a lasting impression on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

As Bill parks his bus for the final time, the College community extends its heartfelt thanks for his years of service and care. We wish him every happiness and fulfilment as he embarks on the next chapter of his journey.

Students and parents also shared their appreciation for Bill’s kindness and patience:

“Bill always welcomed me onto the bus when I first started at John Paul. When me and my brother would always almost miss the bus, he would wait for us every time. Thank you so much for being my bus driver and best for retirement.” – Brielle C.

“Bill has been a caring bus driver for many people this year! Thank you, Bill.” – Brianna W.

"Bill, the best and kindest bus driver who ALWAYS waited for my kids when he sighted my car racing around the roundabout on route # 6 because they were late again! Legend! Thankyou for your hard work, kindness and dedication to taking my kids safely to school every day. You will be very missed. Enjoy your retirement!" - Parent.
