Sextortion is a growing threat, and unfortunately, some companies are exploiting victims with false promises of content removal - for a hefty fee. These so-called “solutions” use fear-based tactics, high-pressure sales, and expensive subscriptions that offer little real help.
There is no quick fix to erase harmful content once it’s in the wrong hands. Instead, young people need the right support: reporting to the eSafety Commissioner, securing accounts, and seeking help from trusted adults and official support services.
As parents, open conversations about online safety are essential. Education- not fear - is the best protection.
