Elevating Ideas Through Student-Led Learning

22 June 2026

Year 8 students recently welcomed families to the Elevate and Explore Parent Presentation Afternoon, showcasing the learning they have developed throughout the semester.

The afternoon highlighted the program’s focus on three key areas: establishing a growth mindset, strengthening critical and creative thinking, and developing clear and confident communication skills. Across the semester, students have been encouraged to challenge themselves, embrace mistakes as part of the learning process, think deeply and creatively about problems, and share their ideas in meaningful and purposeful ways.

This learning was brought together in a series of student-led workshops under the overarching theme of Entertainment. Each student selected a topic of personal interest and explored how it has evolved over time. The resulting presentations reflected a diverse range of passions and curiosities, with workshops featuring topics such as flight simulation, bands and music, cricket, carnivals and more.

The presentations were delivered across two rounds, allowing guests to engage with different workshops and gain insight into the breadth of student learning. Each session provided students with the opportunity to take ownership of their work, present to an authentic audience, and demonstrate the knowledge and presentation skills developed throughout the semester.

The afternoon concluded with appreciation for the support of families and the enthusiasm of students, who confidently shared their learning journeys. The experience not only showcased final projects, but also highlighted the ongoing development of student thinking, collaboration and communication skills that sit at the heart of the Elevate and Explore program.
