Impressive Efforts at SIS Public Speaking

11 May 2026

Students recently represented the College at the SIS Public Speaking competition, demonstrating confidence, creativity and composure across both prepared and impromptu speaking events.

Students from Years 7 to 12 competed in Junior, Intermediate and Senior divisions, with all participants delivering both a prepared and impromptu speech. Topics challenged students to think critically, communicate clearly and engage their audience on a range of themes and ideas.

Prepared speech topics included Birds of a feather flock together, First Impressions and The customer is always right, while impromptu rounds encouraged students to respond thoughtfully to prompts such as The importance of listening, Lead by example and Read between the lines.

Representing the College were Charli W (Year 8) in the Junior division, Emily S and Keira J (Year 9) in the Intermediate division, and Alisha H (Year 12) in the Senior division.

The College performed strongly across all divisions, finishing close behind the winning schools in each category. The event highlighted the talent, preparation and courage of students as they spoke in front of peers, staff and judges.

Special congratulations to Alisha H, who was named runner-up Best Speaker in the Senior division.
