Leadership development continues to be a key focus at the College, with students engaging in meaningful opportunities to build their skills, confidence and capacity to lead both within the school and the wider community.
The Passport to Leadership program recently brought together aspiring and emerging leaders from Years 9 to 11 for a three-day experience centred on teamwork, collaboration, mentoring and public speaking. Through a range of hands-on activities, students strengthened these capabilities in authentic contexts, including a visit to St John’s Primary School. There, participants worked alongside younger students, taking on mentoring roles as they guided them through activities such as origami and knot tying. This experience encouraged students to lead through service, developing their communication skills while building confidence, responsibility and connection.
These leadership experiences were further extended through participation in the School Leaders Event with the Committee for Frankston & Mornington Peninsula, hosted by Peninsula Grammar. The event brought together student leaders from across the region to share their perspectives on the issues shaping the future for young people. Representing John Paul College, Marshall D, Jai B and Fina A were part of the College delegation, engaging with the program alongside their peers. Alisha H, Molly P and Harlene R took part in the forum, speaking on the growing impact of the cost of living and the challenges young people face in preparing for and navigating an increasingly expensive society.
Together, these opportunities reflect the College’s commitment to nurturing capable, compassionate and forward-thinking leaders, empowering students to make a meaningful impact now and into the future.
