Attendance and Absence Procedures

06 February 2026

Regular attendance is essential for student success. Being at school each day helps students establish routine, engage fully in learning, and build strong friendships. On arrival, students should go to their locker to organise their belongings and then proceed directly to Pastoral Care as per their timetable.

Late Arrival (after 8:30am)
Students arriving late must sign in at Student Services. Parents can report lateness or absence by:

  • Leaving a message on 9784 0237
  • Sending a text to 0499 377 423
  • Providing a written note for the student to hand in at Student Services

Late arrivals not signed in will be flagged to House Coordinators for follow-up. Where possible, please provide advance notice of appointments via the PAM portal, phone or email.

Partial Day Absences
Arriving late or leaving early due to appointments must be entered in the PAM portal.
Notifications of early departure after 12 noon must be made by phone to Student Services.
Students must be collected from Student Services and signed out.
Steps in PAM:

  1. Parent Notified Absence (up to 4 days)
  2. Add Absence
  3. Select Reason
  4. Select Absence Period
  5. Select Date
  6. Add notes

Whole Day Absences
Full-day absences must be submitted via the PAM portal by 8:30am.
If you are unable to access PAM, SMS or voicemail is acceptable.
If no notification is received, an SMS will be sent at 10:00am. If you receive this alert and were unaware of the absence, please contact the College immediately.

Extended Leave Requests
Requests for holiday or travel leave must be made directly to the Principal’s Office.
Planned medical or personal leave should be emailed to the Pastoral Care teacher and/or Attendance@jpc.vic.edu.au.

Change Sessions
If a student misses a scheduled Change Session due to a full-day absence, it will automatically be moved to the next available date.

Feeling Unwell During the Day
Students who feel unwell must report to the College nurse. Parents will be contacted if the student needs to go home. Students should not contact parents directly. All early departures for illness must be signed out through the Health Centre.
