As part of RISE Week (Reflect – Year 12 Retreats, Innovate – Years 7 and 8 STEM Week, Study – Years 10 and 11 Exams, Explore – Year 9 MUSE), Year 9 students participated in MUSE under the Explore pillar, an experiential learning program designed to extend learning beyond the classroom and into the wider world.
MUSE was a fun and rewarding experience that gave me many opportunities to step outside of my comfort zone and try new things.
Throughout the program, students are challenged to take initiative, explore new environments and develop skills that support lifelong learning. These experiences are designed to strengthen confidence and capability as students navigate an important stage of personal and academic development.
MUSE was an experience that helped me feel more confident and appreciate Melbourne more.
Aligned with the developmental needs of middle adolescence, MUSE supports students as they transition towards greater independence and responsibility. The program fosters essential skills including time management, research, leadership and teamwork.
Students explored Melbourne’s landmarks, cultural institutions and public spaces while learning to navigate the city, manage schedules and work collaboratively with their peers. Through these real-world experiences, they gained valuable skills that will support them both in and beyond the classroom.
Through the experience, I gained greater independence.
Through meaningful, real-world learning, MUSE enables students to discover new perspectives, build connections and engage more deeply with the world around them as part of RISE Week.
