Year 7 student Jeremie has reached another incredible milestone, earning a silver medal at the Australian Little Athletics Championships after being selected to represent Victoria. His achievement reflects years of dedication and a growing passion for athletics that began during his primary school years.
Jeremie first discovered his talent for athletics through school sports days, where he quickly found success in the high jump event. Reflecting on how his athletics journey began, Jeremie explained:
Through school athletic sports in Grade 4 I started to win high jump and went through all the levels to regional and state in Grade 5 and 6. I joined Frankston Little Athletics in October 2025 for my first season.
Since joining Frankston Little Athletics, Jeremie has continued to develop his skills and confidence, competing against athletes from across the state. Earlier this season, he placed third at the State Championships, earning a bronze medal and securing his place at the national level.
I was calm, I was excited and I couldn’t believe I had got 3rd.
For Jeremie, the most enjoyable part of high jump is the feeling that comes with successfully clearing the bar.
Getting over the bar and just knowing that it makes me feel happy.
One of the most special moments in Jeremie's athletics journey so far came when he learned he had been selected to represent Victoria at the Australian Little Athletics Championships, something he had long hoped to achieve.
Finding out that I was selected for the Victorian team in the Australian Little Athletics Championships was a dream come true.
At the national championships, Jeremie delivered an outstanding performance, clearing a personal best height of 155cm to claim the silver medal in the Under 12 high jump. Matching the height of the gold medallist, Jeremie's result places him second in Australia for his age group - an exceptional achievement.
Trying to be the best motivates me.
Reflecting on the experience, Jeremie shared his excitement about competing on the national stage for the first time.
Just being there and being able to appreciate the moment and it’s a good holiday!
Jeremie also shared some advice for other students who might be thinking about trying athletics or getting involved in sport.
Try your best, it doesn’t matter if you fail, keep on trying and don’t give up and make sure you enjoy it.
The College congratulates Jeremie on this outstanding achievement and on becoming one of the top young high jumpers in the country, and wishes him every success in his future athletics journey.
