Our Year 11 and 12 student leaders recently ventured to Iluka Retreat for Leadership Camp — a chance for our Year 12s to pass the torch on and for our Year 11s to grow as leaders and mentors as they begin developing their leadership style for 2026.
Students took part in team-building challenges and an obstacle course that encouraged collaboration between both year levels. The shared experiences helped build strong connections and inspired reflection on leadership qualities and teamwork.
Leadership camp at Iluka Retreat was such a valuable experience that helped me connect with the other future 2026 leaders and grow closer as a leadership team. Working alongside the current year 12 leaders, especially my counterpart, gave me great insight into how to approach the role next year with purpose. I learnt that strong leadership stems from collaboration and effective communication. Planning for Mission Action Day was one of the many highlights and an exciting way to start our 2026 leadership journey.
For many students, the camp provided valuable insight into personal growth and development.
The Leadership camp was a great experience and chance to learn more about myself and my peers. I learnt that I still have some leadership qualities to work towards but I also learnt that I'm able to work well with the people around me. Collaborating with the Year 12s helped me as Rahul and Jasmine had some great advice and tips on how to make next year easier and go smoothly. On the camp I learnt that not everyone will pose and reflect leadership skills that you want to embodied, but that it's okay because those people are still helping me grow as a leader.
Leadership camp was an inspiring experience. We began by meeting past leaders who shared motivational insights and explained their roles. Later on we were able to connect with the 2026 JPC leaders through games and fun activities. These moments helped us bond, learn about each other, and build trust. It was a meaningful journey of growth, teamwork, and friendship that I’ll always remember and carry forward.
After working alongside the Year 12s, the Year 11s stayed overnight to continue their journey of leadership development and connection.
Leadership camp was an amazing experience which gave me the chance to grow closer to the other 2026 leaders. I found it highly beneficial to spend time with my Year 12 counterpart as I was able to learn more about my role as a leader, through someone who has already completed the journey. My highlight of Leadership Camp was the down time we had such as the campfire, and simply sitting at the dining table sharing a meal helped me grow closer to everyone on the leadership team.
For me, leadership camp was a period of self reflection, growth, and an opportunity to connect with my fellow leaders in a way that I had never before. The highlight for me was the liturgy that we participated in, as it was such a spiritual experience where I felt closer to both God and myself. I used the time to think about the leader that I wanted to be and the leader that I didn't want to be. This was such a fulfilling experience, unique from all other camps that I have been on and I am so incredibly grateful.
Leadership Camp at Iluka Retreat was an inspiring and meaningful experience for all involved, providing opportunities for connection, collaboration, and self-reflection as students prepare to lead the College community in 2026.
