JPC’s Year 7 footballers have enjoyed a fantastic campaign at the 2026 Herald Sun Shield AFL Nines State Championships, with the boys’ team crowned champions and the girls’ team reaching the semi-finals.
The AFL Nines format provided a fast-paced challenge for our students, with each match played across two 10-minute halves. Both JPC teams played four pool matches, competing against schools from across Victoria and building momentum throughout the day.
At the end of the pool stage, the top two ranked teams in each division progressed through to the finals. The JPC boys’ team finished strongly to secure a place in the grand final, where they went on to claim the championship title.
The girls’ team also enjoyed a successful campaign, progressing through to the semi-finals after their pool matches before their run came to an end.
The championships gave our Year 7 students an opportunity to represent JPC, test themselves against other schools and put their football skills, teamwork and determination into action.
Congratulations to all our Year 7 footballers on an impressive day of competition, and to the staff and coaches Ms Mace and Mr Roberts, who supported both teams throughout the championships.
