At John Paul College, the wellbeing and safety of every student remains a shared priority and an important part of the College’s Catholic mission. As part of Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools’ ongoing Child Safe Standards newsletter series, families are invited to learn more about Child Safe Standard 3 and how it supports students to feel heard, respected and empowered.
Child Safe Standard 3 focuses on ensuring children and young people are informed about their rights, actively involved in decisions that affect them, and encouraged to speak up in safe and supportive environments. The standard highlights the importance of student voice, respectful relationships and strong partnerships between schools and families.
At the College, this commitment is reflected through opportunities for student leadership and participation, as well as through everyday interactions that encourage students to share their ideas, concerns and experiences. Staff continue to engage in professional learning to strengthen student voice, agency and empowerment across all areas of school life.
Families also play an important role in supporting child safety by encouraging open conversations, helping children understand their rights, and remaining connected with the College community.
Parents and carers are encouraged to read the full MACS Parent/Carer Newsletter below to learn more about Child Safe Standard 3 and the ways schools are working to create child-safe environments for all young people.
