Term 2 is shaping up to be an exciting and opportunity-filled period for students in the Gifted and Talented program, with a range of enrichment experiences underway and new challenges ahead.
A team of Year 7 students represented JPC at the Kids’ Lit Quiz, marking the College’s first participation in this event. Both JPC teams represented the College very well. Students enjoyed the experience and had the opportunity to connect with peers from other participating schools. Team 1, made up of Katie, Ollie, Ryan and Sierra, achieved great success by winning the ‘Games’ round. As a reward, each student was able to select a novel to take home as a prize.
Students from Years 7-10 will also take part in the Australian Geography and History competitions this term. These national events provide an excellent platform for students to demonstrate their strengths in Humanities and extend their learning beyond the classroom.
In addition, selected students will begin work on the Australian STEM Video Game Design Challenge, with this year’s theme centred on oceans. This project offers a creative and collaborative opportunity to apply STEM skills in an innovative context.
With a busy term ahead, the Gifted and Talented program continues to provide rich and engaging opportunities for students to challenge themselves, extend their abilities, and explore new areas of interest.
