Our Year 7 students recently took part in a powerful session with youth mentor and motivational speaker Eric Agyeman, exploring the impact of bullying, adversity and the choices we make when faced with difficult situations.
Drawing on his own experiences of bullying and adversity, Eric shared his journey and challenged students to consider how their choices can shape the experiences of those around them. His message was clear: creating a culture of respect and belonging starts with each of us.
One message that stood out to me was; Failure is never a person. Failure is only ever an event.”
For our Year 7 students, the session provided an opportunity to reflect on the kind of community they want to be part of and the role they each play in creating it.
At JPC, we want our students to have the courage to stand up for what is right, the resilience to overcome challenges and the empathy to ensure others feel seen, valued and included.
Eric’s message was an important reminder that building a positive school culture is not the responsibility of one person. Every student has the power to make a difference - and it starts with a choice.
I really enjoyed Eric Agyeman’s presentation because it was inspiring and made me think more about how our actions can affect other people. The message that stuck with me most was that we should always show respect, stand up for others and not be a bystander when someone is being bullied. It reminded me that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
