Year 10 Beyond the Classroom

20 May 2026

The Year 10 Activities Program was designed to encourage students to step beyond their comfort zone and engage in meaningful learning experiences not typically found in the classroom. Offering a diverse range of hands-on experiences, the program supported students in developing confidence, independence, teamwork and resilience through challenge-based learning.

Across the program, students took part in a variety of activities that catered to different interests, abilities and learning styles, ensuring each student was both engaged and challenged.

Students tested themselves physically and mentally through activities such as climbing and high ropes, where they worked through challenges individually and supported their peers. Others collaborated in small groups to solve problems in escape room scenarios, requiring clear communication and teamwork under pressure.

I really enjoyed the Year 10 Activities Program, especially the escape room and flight simulator. It was fun working together to escape the room and the flight simulator made it feel like I was actually flying a plane.

Creative thinking was developed through filmmaking workshops, where students planned, filmed and edited their own short mockumentaries, taking on different roles and working together to bring their ideas to life. Meanwhile, experiences such as the MCG tour and the Point Nepean bike ride allowed students to explore significant locations, building their understanding through guided, real-world learning.

Year 10 Activities was an incredibly enjoyable experience. No matter what activity, everyone built more teamwork, communication and connection with one another. Trying new experiences and being with friends made the time memorable, fun and rewarding.
