Year 12 student Darcy S is one step closer to his AFL dream after being selected for the 2026 Telstra AFL Draft Combine.
A centre half-back for the Dandenong Stingrays, Darcy has been playing football for around 10 years and has enjoyed a standout year. Earlier this year, he was selected for the National Academy before representing Vic Country at U18 level and making his VFL debut.
Now, Darcy will join some of Australia’s most promising young footballers at the AFL Draft Combine in Melbourne, where he’ll have the opportunity to compete in a range of physical tests and showcase his athletic ability to AFL clubs.
With the AFL Draft on the horizon, Darcy has his sights firmly set on taking the next step.
Hopefully, I can get drafted at the end of the year and go on to have a successful career.
Darcy credits his parents, family and friends for supporting him throughout his football journey and encouraging him to always do his best. He also made sure to give a special mention to his barber!
We congratulate Darcy on this fantastic achievement and wish him all the best at the Draft Combine and for the exciting opportunities ahead.
