John Paul College has embarked on an exciting renewal project that will help shape the future of our College community for years to come.
As the College has grown from around 800 students to more than 1,350, it is the right time to ensure our Vision, Mission, Values and House system reflect who we are today and who we aspire to become. This renewal is not about changing who we are, but about building on our rich Catholic heritage while creating a shared direction for the future.
Director of Faith and Mission, Zoe Wood, said the process has already highlighted the strong connection our community has with the College.
What has struck me most throughout this process is the depth of care people have for John Paul College. Our community is embracing the opportunity to reflect on who we are, what we value, and how we can continue to foster a culture where every young person can flourish.
The project will see the College develop a renewed Vision and Mission, establish three core values, and introduce a new five-House structure from 2027. The expanded House system will strengthen opportunities for belonging, leadership, service and community, while providing each House with a stronger identity, purpose and story.
At the heart of the project is an important question: What does “fullness of life” look like for a John Paul College student today, and what should it look like in 2030?
Students, staff, parents, carers and alumni will all have the opportunity to contribute their ideas throughout the consultation process. Their feedback will help shape the College’s future Vision, Mission, Values and House system, ensuring they reflect the aspirations of the wider John Paul College community.
For Zoe, this consultation is also an opportunity to reflect on the College’s story and consider how its traditions can continue to inform its future.
This renewal is ultimately about story. It invites us to honour our past, listen deeply to our present community, and shape a future that remains faithful to our mission while responding to the needs of the next generation.
The consultation has already provided an opportunity to hear a wide range of perspectives, with students, staff, parents and alumni contributing to the conversation.
It has been a privilege to hear the diverse voices of our community. Across students, staff, parents and alumni, there is a shared appreciation for the transformative impact of a Catholic education and a strong desire to ensure that sense of belonging continues to grow.
The project will be guided by two dedicated working groups – one focusing on the Vision, Mission and Values, and the other leading the House Renewal process. Together, they will listen, imagine, create and refine a shared direction that honours the College’s FCJ and Marianist traditions while preparing students to thrive into the future.
The enthusiasm of students has also been a highlight of the process, with their ideas and perspectives contributing to conversations about the College’s future.
The enthusiasm generated by these conversations has been incredible. Whether discussing our values, our vision for the future, or even the important question of House colours, our students have approached the process with energy, insight and a genuine commitment to strengthening our community.
Every voice matters, and the College looks forward to working together to write the next chapter in the John Paul College story.
