The Addams Family Musical brings humour heart and individuality

01 June 2026

John Paul College’s 2026 production of The Addams Family Musical captivated audiences with its humour, heart and spectacular student talent, transforming the Ngargee into a wonderfully weird celebration of individuality, creativity and community.

Bringing together more than 100 students across cast, crew, band and backstage teams, this year’s production showcased the extraordinary dedication and collaboration that has become a hallmark of Performing Arts at the College.

At its heart, it celebrates individuality, something that feels right at home here in the Ngargee, where students are encouraged to be who they are.

From the opening click of fingers to the final curtain call, audiences were immersed in the delightfully dark world of the Addams family, where love, acceptance and embracing what makes us unique take centre stage. Filled with memorable musical numbers, dynamic choreography, striking costumes and impressive technical production, the show delivered both laughter and heartfelt moments.

This year’s production also carried special meaning, dedicated to the 2020 cast and crew who had originally prepared The Addams Family Musical but were unable to perform due to the pandemic.

The production featured standout performances from lead cast members including Jesse H (Year 11) as Gomez Addams, Hannah L (Year 12) as Morticia Addams, Matilda D (Year 11) as Wednesday Addams, Jackson D (Year 8) as Pugsley Addams, Oliver K (Year 12) as Uncle Fester, Marco K (Year 10) as Lucas Beineke, Cinta L (Year 11) as Alice Beineke, Mason E (Year 10) as Mal Beineke, Sheridan H (Year 12) as Grandma Addams and Jack C (Year 11) as Lurch, supported by a talented ensemble and hardworking backstage team.

Coming back after The Little Mermaid last year, it means so much to spend my final year in this incredible community with The Addams Family Musical. Playing Morticia has been such a rewarding experience and has really pushed me as a performer. The memories and friendships from this show are something I’ll always hold onto.

Behind the scenes, students worked across lighting, sound, costumes, makeup, props, stage management, front of house and set construction, demonstrating the breadth of opportunities available through the College’s Performing Arts program.

Every set change, lighting cue and backstage transition was powered by students whose teamwork and dedication helped bring the production to life both on and off the stage.

The College extends its sincere thanks to the dedicated staff, production team, families and wider community whose support made this spectacular production possible.

The Addams Family Musical was more than a performance - it was a joyful celebration of creativity, community and the confidence to embrace what makes us unique.

Being a part of the main leads for my last year of school is incredibly rewarding. I'm very grateful to be able to be featured in the cast in the role I auditioned for, and even more so for my peers, the teachers, and everyone's passion towards the production - everyone trying their best to make it as good as it could be. I hope that each year we keep improving and growing!
