Mission Action Day brought the JPC community together for a day of faith, service and community, giving students the opportunity to put their commitment to helping others into action. After postponing the celebration in Term two due to weather, it was a joy to final be able to celebrate with our College community.
The MAD program began with Mass at the beginning of Period 3, bringing students and staff together in prayer and reflection on the importance of service, compassion and supporting others.
Each House supported a charity aligned with its focus on serving the community. Olsen House supported Christmas on the Streets (COTS), Chaminade House supported Stella Maris Seafarers Centre, D’Houet House supported MacKillop Family Services and Turner House supported Jesuit Social Services.
In the afternoon, the College came alive with a festival of stalls, games and activities. Students enjoyed time together while raising money for their House charities, with students and staff getting involved through stalls, performances, games and activities.
While Mission Action Day is a much-loved opportunity to build community and have fun together, its purpose goes beyond fundraising. It is an opportunity for students to put faith into action, responding to the call to care for others, support those experiencing disadvantage and contribute to a more just and compassionate community.
