Starting secondary school is an exciting milestone - but it can also bring new routines, new friendships, growing independence, and plenty of new questions for both students and their families.
That’s what made our recent Year 7 Time & Space experience such a meaningful part of the year.
It gave me the chance to really talk to my mum and turn those conversations into memorable moments.
Amid busy family calendars, homework, sport, screens and the pace of everyday life, Time & Space created an opportunity for students and parents to slow down, be present, and share in conversations that don’t always happen in the rush of day-to-day life.
Through guided reflection, storytelling, shared activities and honest conversation, families explored themes of connection, trust, identity and belonging - strengthening the relationships that help young people navigate this important stage of life.
A really enjoyable opportunity to bond and appreciate each other.
I loved talking about memories and hearing other people's experiences.
There were moments of laughter, thoughtful reflection and genuine connection, as students and parents listened, shared stories, asked meaningful questions and learned more about one another.
The evening was a powerful reminder that some of the most important conversations happen when we simply make space for them.
It was wonderful to have this time to reflect and be part of the community.
Events like Time & Space reflect our commitment to supporting not only the academic journey of our students, but their wellbeing, relationships and sense of belonging as they begin their secondary school experience.
