House Athletics Carnival celebrates sport, spirit and community

05 May 2025

The 2025 House Athletics Carnival was a standout event on the John Paul College calendar, bringing together students and staff for a day of spirited competition, personal bests and community pride.

Held in true JPC style, the day was bursting with energy from the first to the last race. Students from Years 7 to 12 competed across a full program of track and field events, including sprints, relays, high jump, long jump, shot put and more.

Adding to the vibrant atmosphere was this year’s 80s theme, which saw students and staff donning bright colours, sweatbands, leg warmers and retro outfits. The themed costumes, and enthusiastic cheering created a sense of fun and unity that reflected the heart of the JPC community.

While athletic ability was on full display, what stood out most was the spirit of encouragement and teamwork. Whether competing, cheering from the side lines or helping coordinate events, students demonstrated respect, sportsmanship and a strong sense of belonging.

The competition was fierce, with all four Houses pushing each other right to the end. In a close finish, Chaminade House claimed first place, followed closely by Turner House. Olsen and D’Houet Houses also performed admirably, rounding out the results:

  • 1st - Chaminade House – 2067 points
  • 2nd -  Turner House – 2034 points
  • 3rd -  Olsen House – 1778 points
  • 4th -  D’Houet House – 1636 points

The College extends its congratulations to all students for their involvement - whether as competitors, supporters, or event helpers. Your enthusiasm and positive spirit were central to the success of the day. Special thanks also go to our dedicated staff for their organisation and supervision, and to the House Leaders for ensuring the smooth running of this much-loved event.
