The dolphin represents Frankston and the Peninsula. This panel is dedicated to OJ Olsen, a benefactor of John Paul College. The charism of Olsen is generosity. For Olsen House the charism of generosity is truly representative of our founder.
The emblem of Olsen features a dolphin which symbolises Frankston and the Peninsula, this being our local community. Olsen House was established in memory of OJ Olsen and his generous financial contributions to the development of our school. He donated an enormous amount of money, thus making a lifelong contribution to John Paul College.
Generosity is defined as the willingness to give and this charism is portrayed extensively by the students of Olsen through our fundraisers and participation in school activities such as, swimming and athletics carnivals. Our enthusiasm to display generosity as students at John Paul College is witnessed throughout the year either as individuals or as a whole House.
Our House spirit revolves around our willingness to give up our time and help others. We believe strongly in giving credit where it is due. We affirm each individual for their successes, whether it is academic, sporting, artistic or it simply being an act of generosity. We encourage each other to exemplify our charism of generosity in the best possible way, and as a community encourage each member of our House to participate in various aspects of schooling.
Looking to the future, Olsen students embody the charism of generosity to the best of their abilities through participation in extracurricular programs, such as community service, the arts and sporting events. In previous years it has been shown that Olsen students have displayed generosity, and we hope to continue to exceed the expectations of the past.
