'Future Me' Ready
John Paul College provides an exemplary and holistic education; part of this holistic approach is the comprehensive Careers program.
Careers offerings include classroom curriculum, individualised student career meetings, incursions, excursions and expo events.
Students have a range of careers advice throughout their time at the college:
Students take a semester long Futures subject. This focuses on collaboration skills, critical thinking skills and project based learning for students to explore future pathways.
In Year 10 students investigate careers and courses of interest and are taken to a Careers Expo where they can research University, TAFE, apprenticeships and the like. At Year 10, students have an individual appointment with a parent/carer present to ensure that their two-year program for Year 11 and 12 suits them and their learning style.
Appointments throughout the year upon request. Access to tertiary provider incursions and term 4 appointments to commence VTAC research.
A group appointment is held at the beginning of the year to continue VTAC research and commence their shortlist of tertiary courses. Appointments throughout the year upon request. Small group appointments in August to register for VTAC, complete SEAS and scholarship applications. Individual phone calls are made and appointments are available in December upon ATAR release, to ensure productive use of results in Year 13.
Parents and Carers are welcome to attend any meetings held with their son / daughter. JPC Careers ensures every member of our community is empowered to achieve success.
The Careers website provides students and parents with the latest information to help them make decisions about future careers and life beyond JPC.
You can use this site to locate University, TAFE and any other type of course across Australia, get information about VCE, search for job vacancies and much more.
